Welcome Spring!! - New Photo's and Gigs

Damn Those Theives!! - October 13th

You may have noticed the new pictures on the web. Well, as we're such a fancy shmancy band (*cough*), we thought we'd share with you what came out of our recent photo shoot. Unfortunately, the photographer had her camera stolen recently... "BASTARDS" I hear you yell, "Who would do that to an artist!!?". Well, to support our Canadian friend, we're playing at the Central Club in October with some great bands to help her out. (Mosaik and Joel Muston) We'll also have the cream of the independant comedy circuit coming to liven the night. So make sure you come along on the 13th of October and help her "Damn those theives!" (it's a Friday the 13th... how ominous).

Also in the wars is Daniel's car... It was run off the road and destroyed by some 'hoon' on the way to The Greyhound gig in July. Luckily he borrowed a car and got the the show in time. If you see some guy on the side of the road dragging a keyboard off to his gigs, feel free to lend him a hand, as the idiot is still walking everywhere.

Got gigs lined up for October, and organising some shows with our mates Joel Muston and To the Moon, so keep you're ears peeled for more announcements.

The new photo's can be seen on www.myspace.com/maundertheband, and will be up here for your pleasure soon.

Gig and Recording Update

More details for the gigs that are coming up on the 6th and 13th of June. Go to the gigs page for more info.

To stay in the loop with gigs and big news, we would really appreciate your support if you signed up onto the mailing list. Your information will be kept completely confidential and will only be used to email you about gigs and other important Maunder events. Just send us an email to maunder@hypercritical.net, and we'll take care of the rest.

In other news, the first of our recording came back from Omega Music this week. 'Melbourne' as itis called, sounds sweet, and we're really excited to be able to offer it to you FREE. Just doing some minor adjustments, then it'll be posted. We're waiting on another song still to come, but need to wait till Daniel (Jerry) gets down to the studio and lay some vocal tracks.

In people news, Daniel's been doing session work and arranging, as well as working on the new magazine Arts In the City. Steve had some recordings played on SBS's new show, The Da Vinci Cup, including one that Daniel wrote with him. Nice one boys. You'll recognize Steve's song, it's played whenever the bad guy comes into shot. Ben and Aaron haven't stayed quiet either, playing with the Whisky Go GO's and their album launch at the Espy's Gershwin room. It was a top night, even with the unexpected nudity, (from burlesque dancers, not Aaron, phew).

Look forward to seeing you at the gigs!!

Upcoming Gigs are on the 6th at the Arthouse, and 13th of July The Espy, check out the gigs page for more info.

Greyhound Review

Firstly, a special thanks to all those that came out and supported us play at the Greyhound last week. We got some really strong feedback from the audience, and really enjoyed the gig. Daniel even broke his piano stool... who knew you could rock out that much on a piano? Special mention to Ben who's playing bass for us now, as it was his first gig with us. We look forward to more of "Dancing Ben" at future shows.

We'll keep this site posted on future gigs... also have put the review from the Jager Uprising below. Take care y'all...

FROM "Jager Uprising @ The Greyhound. By Neil Wedd"

The venue then filled up with people to see Maunder play. Maunder played songs that remind me of The Whitlams. Sometimes a bit funkier than that. The singer played the keyboards, with guitar, bass and drums. Ballads, full of emotion and poignancy. Good playing backed it up. Nobody dominated the proceedings, the band working as it should. As a unit that delivered well crafted songs. The crowd lapped it up, the band went for it on the last song bringing the set and the night to a satisfying end.

Happy New Year - Gig at the Greyhound

We hope you are all well at the beginning of this New Year. Here's the latest on the band. Firstly, come check us out at the Greyhound on the 8th of February!! Details at the GIGS page. Steve's also going back to study, so you may see him round Box Hill this year with his trumpet, we congratulate him on getting in. After we all came back from the Christmas brak, we spent a week together working on new material, and there's a bunch of things happening behind the scenes that will hopefully push us forward a bit more, so it's worth staying tuned.

... and don't forget you can download the tracks of the EP from HERE , we'll get the artwork up on the web soon.

Hope to see you soon

25/11/2005

Is that a box of printed Maunder Demo/EP's in my hallway or are you just happy to hear me?

Yes, it's finally happened, the CD's are back from the printers, and we're off down the road skipping with our pinic baskets full of CD's to give venues, agents, etc. They'll be around at upcoming gigs, but you can just download the files from our Downloads page, and onto the IPOD they go.

Tommo's been busy with his band MOSAIK, and half the bands been moving house, so now, we wind up the Maunder machine and see how long she'll spin for.

now be good, or i'll tell your mum...

...who are we kidding, of course we wont...

Tommo's has also been playing with MOSAIK, who got a great review in INPRESS this week from their gig at the Greyhound.

The demo/ep/whatever it is called, is finished and off to the printers, so mailing list people will get mail when its ready for download etc. Now that it's done, Steve and Jerry are out looking for some acoustic gigs, with band stuff to follow.

19/9/2005

Well things have just been plain busy at the maunder camp... Jerry's been madly writing/recording the music for the fringe festival production of shakespeare's THE TEMPEST for the JUNKYARD MONKEYS theatre company as well as been busy working for Melbourne singer/songwriter JESS PAIGE. Steve's been busy in the studio recording the Melbourne band MOSAIK, while also giving our song Ache In My Head" a makeover, so we can give you a full band version. All this has meant the Demo hasn't gone to the printers yet, but all the artworks done, and we'll have it online in October...

7/9/2005

Gig TONIGHT at Deakin University, check out Gig page for more info...

...and as the gigs start rolling in, join the mailing list by emailing maunder@hypercritical.net right now... no more having to wonder where we're playing, we'll drop you a line and let you know... now how's that for service?
